We were just recording in June, for most of June, and in a weird way, we’re closer than ever, which is really sweet to me—I’m really happy about that. You know, you go through a thing where the band is just friends, and then you work so much together that you kind of become more like working partners, and then, weirdly, it changes again. When we got off tour we were all pretty tired, and then we spent so long apart, I think October to June, not really talking all that much, just doing our own thing. And I think we all started to miss each other, so it made us feel a little bit closer when we finally got back together. That’s really a nice feeling of home, which is awesome. I felt that a lot while trying to finish my solo record: I couldn’t wait to not have to finish a record by myself anymore, but to be able to rely on them and to have three other companions that I respect. I often felt lucky that I had the band when I was trying to do stuff by myself. Like,
‘Well, at least I have them. When we get back together, that will be a nice change of pace.’ So I think we’re all feeling closer than ever.
