—Chris Taylor, excerpt from the Mono.Kultur #29 interview

Interview with Chris over at Pop News

Will it [the new Grizzly Bear album] change from the previous?

Yes, I hope. I hope we will do something a little different from what is usual. I want us to surprise ourselves! It would be really good. We’ve been around a while now and it is important to constantly strive to reinvent ourselves in order to always maintain the interest. Because if I think of the evolution of the group since its inception—that’s when we catch ourselves that things are interesting. It should just take time to make this risk-taking happen. This is our third album as a group so we must really work hard.

Interview with Chris Taylor @ Paper Mag:

And I’ve heard that you’re opening a restaurant in Williamsburg. Any truth to that rumor?
It is true. But it’s in the early stages, so I can’t talk about it just yet. Stay tuned.

20 Q&As with Chris Taylor

Just being the frontman, or whatever you want to call it, is a totally different sensation on stage. I like confronting things I’m scared about, so it’ll be fun to go out on the road and be nervous before shows. I had plenty of nervousness about it, but actually getting up there, I felt less nervous than I thought. Still, you look out and the audience is staring at you. I was like, “I guess I know what this feels like now.””

FAVORITE PICK-UP LINE:“I was in Home Depot recently and saw a really hot girl. I thought of a corny pick-up line that I would never say, but I thought it was funny, so let’s not waste it: ‘If Home Depot made a calendar, you’d be miss August, because you are hotter than July.’ I’m not good at hitting on girls. But this line makes me laugh.”

SPOOK: Finally, what is your biggest vice?
Chris Taylor: I actually really, really look forward to watching shitty movies on the aeroplane. I think a lot people enjoy that though. I look forward to it, but I would never watch that stuff at home, but watching really crappy movies is totally okay when you’re on an aeroplane. I also get kind of scared on the aeroplane, so I can’t watch anything stressful or with a lot of violence in it. I have to watch the most candy like film, like romantic comedies.
